YUNIKORN-231 added support for auto scaling updates with a number of
limitations as described in the document: [^YuniKorn and cluster
auto-scaler.pdf]
The change already improves the behaviour and limits the over provisioning of
nodes in a big use case. The limitations however also mean that we still have
some large gaps in the functionality:
- queue hierarchy support
- resource request changes over time
- support for non FIFO sorting policies
- resource fragmentation & reservation support
Not all these issues can or should be handled in one go.
