Craig Condit commented on YUNIKORN-1699:
----------------------------------------

Some notes on timelines:

On Google GKE, 1.22 will be end-of-life on 2023-04-30, and 1.23 will be
end-of-life 2023-07-31. 1.27 is not yet available, but based on historical
trends, new versions are typically available within approximately 3 weeks of an
upstream release.

On Amazon EKS, 1.22 will be end-of-life 2023-06-04, and 1.23 will be
end-of-life October 2023. 1.27 is not yet available, but is typically supported
within 6 months of an upstream release.

For Microsoft AKS, 1.22 is already end-of-life as of December 2022 and 1.23
will be end-of-life April 2023. 1.27 will be in preview May 2023 and GA June
2023.

RedHat OCP 4.8 (based on 1.21) is in extended support and will be end-of-life
2023-04-27. OCP 4.10 (based on 1.23) is currently in maintenance support until
2023-09-10. OCP 4.13 (likely the first 1.27-based release) is not yet
available, but will probably drop sometime midyear 2023.

>
> The scheduler plugin mode doesn't work when running under Kubernetes 1.27, as
> the v1beta1 version of CSIStorageCapacity was removed from the API server.
> This prevents the plugin from starting up as the informers won't sync, and
> scheduling is non-functional.
> As v1 was not available until 1.24, so we will need to build against at least
> 1.24. However, this will remove compatibility for running on 1.21 through
> 1.23. This is tricky, as 1.22 and especially 1.23 are still widely deployed.

> for breaking changes in the API server identified the last time we upgraded
> our dependency on Kubernetes.
> Opening this now to drive visibility and facilitate discussion.
