The upgrade to K8s 1.32 will force an upgrade of the go.mod file to 1.23. We
should only change the go.mod file if required. It shows the minumum version of
the tool chain that must be used. That version is either specified by a
dependency we use or if we start using language functionality introduced in a
specific version.
