Unit tests run with deadlock detection enabled. e2e tests do not run with the
detection enabled.
e2e tests are far more like a real production case and we should really run the
e2e tests with it enabled. Turning it on will require a change in the helm
chart that is used to deploy the e2e tests as we need to set the environment
variables.
