I have a Funtoo Linux machine with Vixie cron 4.1. I'm running the latest
mbsync from git (cb06715 - IPv6 support).

Running "mbsync -a" from the command line does exactly what it should. However,
when I attempt to run it via a cron job (redirecting its output to a log file) I
get an empty log file, and my new email isn't retrieved. This is the same even
if I use the -V or -D flag despite those flags producing the expected output
when I'm running mbsync from the command line.

Any help in solving the problem would be appreciated.
