Actually, mutt's poor handling of IMAP is what brought me to
isync. You'll get disconnected from all your servers, and no new
mail checking will occur, while you're reading or composing a
message, and you have to tell mutt manually to reconnect or else
it won't. Additionally, at least for gmail's "IMAP", I got
disconnected pretty regularly for no reason that I could discern
other than "gmail's IMAP isn't and it hates you". One could argue
that having to configure automatic reconnects is part of what makes
mutt wonderful, but I personally cannot see the point of having to
tell my MUA to do the thing I want it to do in the first place.
There are other issues as well, some addressed by the new mail
handling work for mutt 1.6.

That, and have you actually *read* mutt's IMAP code? It's a
twisty maze of little codepaths, all spaghetti... I have had much
more enjoyable experiences with mutt since I took away its
ability to connect to any kind of network.
