i seem to have a similar problem with the office365 servers - for some
deleted messages mbsync believes to have propagated the deletion (i.e.,
setting the \Deleted flag and expunging), while the messages positively
remain there. this isn't specific to any particular mailbox.

fwiw, i'm using mbsync's built-in trash support. that's much more
efficient than client-side trashing - the latter re-uploads the trashed
messages to the server, as mbsync does not do move detection.
this of course means that i don't have access to the trash with the
offline mailboxes - that's ok, as i need it only very occasionally, in
which cases using the web client is just fine.
