In Cyrus IMAP, the default is that all folders are in INBOX. So maybe these prefix is exactly what's needed. In earlier times (more then 10 years), you had to give "INBOX" as a path for the folders in e.g. Outlook Express. But these days clients are working fine out-of-the-box.
