Thanks, but not sure about the renaming. I tried it on a single message
that I refiled afterwards, but not success. Anyway, when I refile a
message, the ";2," is alreay discarded, and it seems to be exactly this
difference between messages that show up as unread in Exchange webmail
and older refiled messages that do not (they had been refiled and synced
using offlineimap).

Example:

/Archive/cur/'1487319554.9492_338.L_LAPTOP,U=4315;2,S:2,S'

had been refiled under offlineimap without problems.


/Archive/cur/'1487608528.de209b1bae3fa41e.L_LAPTOP:2,S,U=4367'

had been refiled and synced under mbsync (after renaming the message
with the syntax you suggested) and it does show up as unread again.
