Hello there! Thank you for Isync.

I've recently tried moving from offlineimap to Isync because of speed
issues, and I'm having hard time understanding Isync usage of UID. From
what I understand, every folder I have (e.g. "INBOX", "Archive",
"Sent", etc) has its own counting, so pretty much all of them has an
email with the UID=1.

When I'm using Mutt, command line, or GNOME Evolution to move a message
from my INBOX folder to my Archive folder, I'm always running into an
"Maildir error: duplicate UID 1", because, after moving UID=1 from
INBOX to Archive, there are now two emails with UID=1 obviously. While
I understand all that, I don't understand what Isync is expecting to
happen. Should the files always be renamed when moving between folders
so that they would have an incremental ID corresponding to the folder?
should the ID be removed from the filename? Is there any client other
than Mu4e that supports it?

I'm far from being an expert to email and maildirs, but I thought the
point of a maildir was allowing you to treat emails like you treat
files. If the UIDs are repeating between the folders, that's
impossible, and it's impossible to maintain that without a special
support from the client.

What am I missing? It seems odd to me that Isync would behave this way
by default and would still gain so much traction, but I've searched
around for a couple of hours and couldn't figure out how others are
using it without getting duplicates all the time, except for when using
Mu4e.

Thank you very much!
Yo'av Moshe
