you can open it in thunderbird; there you can enable a row "arrival
order" (or somthing like that), which is in fact the UID.
In any case, a touch stumped. Will keep digging. The oddity is that
offlineimap grabbed all the messages, but mbsync somehow fails to grab
about 12,000 messages.
if you want me to help you, you need to send me (in private) the
complete log from a fresh replica of that mailbox, with the -D option.
