yes, because that's a filter that runs after the listing was completed, i.e., way too late to suppress the error. you also need to set SubFolders like it is asking you to; Verbatim should work just fine. this should work despite Flatten - the combination is semantically simply meaningless at a higher level, so it won't do any harm.

having to configure/maintain the exclusion patterns is a bit annoying,
so it would be preferable to configure xapian to "hide" its indexes (i.e., prefix their names with a dot), but i think you can get away without it.
