Indeed. My main motivation for using jmap is to sync tags without
brittle thirdparty integration.
imap has just fine support for "tags" (where they are named "keywords").
the problem is that mbsync doesn't support them, because there is no
standard _on the maildir side_.
I do see it as IMAP's successor (if only from the name) but IMAP is
likely to stay as well, with JMAP-IMAP proxies along the way.
