correct. until you empty the slave box to confirm that you want it
gone.
a few days ago i pushed the branch wip/unchecked-remove which optionally
removes this safety check. it's an external contribution and requires
cleanup.

no. mbsync knows very well that the master previously existed, as
otherwise it would re-create it straight away (assuming Create Master
was set).
