nice writeup. a few minor points:
- your guess about paralellization not having a visible benefit is
likely correct. at least i can't think of any other reason, either.
- as you have only one imap store linked to each account, you can just
inline them.
- i presume you're not using v1.4 yet, as otherwise you'd be getting
warnings about the master/slave keywords. the exceedingly large "lost
track of" number despite PipelineDepth 1 also suggests this (the
counting simply got a bit better).
- your mutt config contains several folder settings that make no sense
at all for a read-only setup. i'd comment them out and add an
according comment on top, to make this clear.
