Position: SQL DBA Location: Cleveland, OH
Duration: 6+ months Contract to Hire Rate: $37/Hr Best In person interview may be required. Principal Objectives: - Designing and configuring database architecture, including hardware and physical layout. - Handling 'best practice' database troubleshooting, corruption, backup, disaster recovery and security. - Provide support to Database Developers and Software Engineers on SQL Server related issues. - Review and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, SQL Server configuration settings, and performance. - Investigate and resolve data issues as needed. - Perform routine database maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning. - Create documentation for DBA procedures and production database environment. - Must be methodical and able to establish priorities. - Must be able to recognize confidential data issues and maintain this confidentiality. - Assist in implementing SQL Server high availability solutions including clustering, replication and log shipping. - Provide support for Clustering environment, DTS packages and Transactional/Merge replication. - Install SQL Server in production, development and quality assurance environments. - Backup and restore databases on live, development or quality assurance servers. - Provide support and maintenance on Access linked databases. - Provide support and maintenance on AS400 linked databases. - Work in a team environment with other DBA**s, Network Engineers and Software Engineers. Specific Accountabilities: - Daily database creation and maintenance. - Daily monitoring of systems functions, backup success, data replication and SQL Agent processes. - Troubleshooting and assisting users on all SQL and related issues that may arise. - Creation and support of queries, stored procedures, DTS packages for Software Engineers. - Data reporting on various levels through various platforms throughout Arrow International. - Assistance with data or connectivity issues that may arise. - Daily monitoring and maintenance of database and server security. - Hardware and software consulting for SQL environment servers. Position Requirements: Must be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 including; creation and maintenance of databases, stored procedures, Transact-SQL, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, with emphasis on data and server security. Candidate should also have a general working knowledge of Windows Server 2000 and 2003, as well as an understanding of Active Directory integration, with SQL Server. Must have practical experience in working with Microsoft Access databases, link tables and Access data integration with SQL Server.
