FreeBSD/Linux Systems Administrator to support our internal Engineering environment. This person should possess strong inter-personal and communication skills, work well in a team environment and be capable of troubleshooting complex technical problems. Tasks include: * Deployment, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise class FreeBSD and Linux servers. * Writing and maintaining Perl or shell scripts for day-to-day operations * Analysis/troubleshooting of system and network problems * Interfacing with vendors to diagnose and resolve system, application and network issues * Partnering with client groups for capacity and performance planning and to recommend server upgrades * Mentor junior systems administrators *Required skills:* * BSD server administration - 4+ years in any BSD distribution, FreeBSD 4.x or 6.x preferred. * Linux server administration - 4+ years experience on Red Hat or similar Linux distributions, with emphasis on troubleshooting and monitoring. * Scripting - 5+ years of Perl and shell scripting * Troubleshooting – 5+ years of TCP/IP experience with emphasis on troubleshooting problems with LAN/WAN connectivity. *Desired experience: ** 4-6 years of systems administration experience in a large-scale heterogeneous computing environment. * Current working knowledge of Sun (Solaris), Network Appliance (Ontap),and IBM (AIX) hardware and operating systems, and Hitachi SAN equipment. * Should be well versed in Unix OS internals, NFS/CIFS/Samba, directory services such as NIS/NIS+/LDAP, SAN/NAS/DAS storage devices and networks,Veritas Volume Manager/VxFS/VCS, Jumpstart/Kickstart/PXE. * CVS, Bugzilla, MySQL, Cfengine experience is a plus. * Sendmail and DNS administration experience is a plus.
