Position: Sr. Database Architect / Certified MS SQL DBA 
Location: Columbus Ohio

Duration: 10 -12 months
Best Rate $60.00 per hour *see below for exception for rate increase* 

  a.. This is an Architect Position not just a DBA though they MUST be a 
"Certified MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)" - Please read the 
required skills in detail. - Please do not submit any candidate that is not 
certified as they can not be submitted. 
  b.. Any candidate that has experience with HL7 and/or Public Health 
Information Network (PHIN) standards is considered "Ideal" and an increase in 
the rate can be given. 


Senior Database Architect 

Responsibilities: 

  a.. Responsible for all aspects of database architecture and design, query 
optimization, performance tuning, capacity planning, scalability, fault 
tolerance, data security, disaster recovery,  and construction and 
implementation of a large scale and complex database. 
  b.. Develops logical and physical data models, data dictionary, and entity 
relationship ER diagrams. 
  c.. Works as part of the core architecture team as to design the entire 
system including the web tier, application tier, and database tier. 
  d.. Responsible for creating tables, stored procedures, triggers, views, user 
defined functions, etc. 
  e.. Responsible for planning, developing migration scripts and testing data 
conversion and migration from Oracle to SQL Server 2005. 
  f.. Be able to work independently with minimum supervision. 
  g.. Will be required to work collaboratively with the internal Data base and 
Network Infrastructure staff through out the life of the project. 
  h.. Provides formal or informal white board training/mentoring sessions with 
internal technical support staff to facilitate a transfer of knowledge 
deliverable. A designated number of work-hours will be allocated to this 
deliverable  and will be performed over the life of the project 
  i.. Provides weekly progress/status reports or at the frequency designated by 
the Project Manager. 
  
Skills Set - Required: 

  a.. Minimum of 48 months experience as a Database Architect on minimum of two 
successful projects which use Online and Batch transactions. 
  b.. Minimum of 48 months experience leading large and complex SQL Server 
database design projects; hands-on SQL Server database administration 
experience in a large, clustered SQL Server environment. 
  c.. Minimum of 48 months of experience in SQL Server database modeling, 
design, development, and performance monitoring/tuning; minimum of 12 months 
experience with SQL Server 2005. 
  d.. Experience with query performance tuning of a database environment that 
handles large number of concurrent users. 
  e.. Data conversion experience on a minimum of two successful implementations 
where data was converted or migrated from Oracle to SQL Server. 
  f.. A strong background in database design and normalization methodologies. 
  g.. Expertise with relational database concepts, stored procedures, triggers 
and performance / scalability analysis; proven track record in building and 
implementing highly scalable / performing/ 24x7 database applications. 
  h.. Certified MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). 

Skills Set - Preferred: 

  a.. Experience as the Database Architect on a minimum of two successful 
implementations with health-related large scale database system. 
  b.. Minimum 24 months experience with of HL7 and/or Public Health Information 
Network (PHIN) standards. 
  c.. Minimum 24 months experience with Oracle databases. 
  d.. Certified Oracle Database Administrator (DBA). 
  e.. Hands on experience with caching, partitioning, clustering and load 
balancing. 
  f.. Experience with SQL Server 2005 Integration Services and data 
de-duplication techniques. 
  g.. Experience with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
