Position: BI/Datawarehouse consultant with ETL experience
Location: Bristol, CT
Duration: 12-15 Months
Rate: $60-65/hr
Primary Job Functions:
Act as the technical solutions specialist for the Business Intelligence
development team. While each project will be assigned a specific technical
lead, this individual will be responsible for overseeing all projects, acting
as the primary technical solutions expert and project coordinator of multiple
Business Intelligence development projects. This individual will provide high
level system guidance to establish technical direction and a strong shared
vision of the business, including the development of overall system strategies
by collaborating with other development teams (including architecture and the
Business Intelligence architect), and our business partners, assisting in
satisfying business, technical, and analytics operations requirements. This
individual will provide business project support by developing policies,
procedures, methodologies, and necessary documentation for all project teams
and/or partners. This will allow for the creation of Business Intelligence
solutions that will help align IT with the business. This individual will
develop business procedures and data management policies for ensuring data
accuracy and control. This individual will assist in organizing JAD sessions
and/or workshops with users to analyze and define business requirements for all
projects. This individual will also participate in hands-on development. This
individual will report to the Director of Application Development.
Key Skills:
a.. Technical Expertise in Data Modeling tools like Embarcadero ER Studio
in developing conceptual/logical/Physical Data Models.
b.. Firm understanding of data base security concepts and rules.
c.. Experience in both operational (i.e. transactional) and DW physical
data modeling including 3rd normal form and star
d.. Data Modeling, Data Design, Data Architecture, Oracle 11g/10g/9i
concepts, PL/SQL, Stored procedures, functions & triggers, performance tuning
Oracle & SQL databases.
e.. Expertise in PL/SQL, Stored procedures, functions & triggers,
performance tuning Oracle & SQL databases.
f.. Technical expertise in ETL tools like Informatica (Power Mart
4.6/4.7/5.1 Power Center 5.1/6.0/6.1) and/or Data Integrator Version 11.5.1 (DI
Designer, Administrator) for building Data Marts.
g.. Design, develop, implement, and assist in database development and ETL
processes.
h.. Document all database development and ETL related work per company's
methodology.
i.. Troubleshoot, optimize, and tune PL/SQL procedures and ETL processes
j.. Technical expertise in ETL tools like Informatica, Data Stage or Data
Integrator
k.. Ability to work hands-on on schema design, ETL, and reports.
l.. Define and develop the logical data architecture, data model, data
dictionary, and metadata handling/processing.
m.. Expertise in Business Intelligence Tools like Business Objects XI/XI
R2(Designer, Auditor, CMC, CCM, Infoview, WebIntelligence XI/XI R2)
n.. Hands on with Business Objects (Reporter, Designer, Auditor,
Supervisor, Infoview, Web Intelligence)
o.. Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and
practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and
activities.
p.. Integrate models and ensure data rules and definitions are consistent
across various departments for shareability and reuseability.
q.. Reviews project documentation to ensure proposed DW solutions are
architected correctly and align properly to corporate standards.
r.. Anticipate and resolve data definition and integration issues for
cross-functional groups.
s.. Develop business rules including resolution of conflicts over data with
end-users
t.. Excellent knowledge base regarding BI/DW technologies to make effective
decisions on technology selections for various projects.
u.. Analyze existing reports
v.. Identify and document metrics, KPI/dashboards, reports, what-if
scenarios
w.. Identify sources of data including data elements for Data Mapping.
x.. Create and execute unit test plans based on system and validation
requirements
y.. Excellent problem-solving skills, a self-starting attitude and good
communication skills are essential.
z.. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
