Job Title: Informix Database Expert Position Type: Contract - Corp-to-Corp / Contract - W2 / Contract to Hire - W2 Work Authorization: US Citizen / Green Card / EAD/TN / H1B Location: Jackson MS Duration: 6 months Pay Rate: Market Expected Start Date: December 2008 General Overview & Background: * The Client is transferring the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) which utilizes Informix for its database. Seeking the services of a qualified Informix Database Expert to install, test, and perform tuning of the Informix Dynamic Server Enterprise database. The CM/ECF application and Informix database will be installed as a Linux image running under z/VM on an IBM 2096-S03 Z9 Server. Qualifications & Skills: * Must have verifiable working experience in the following areas: - Informix Database - 60 months - Linux (z/Linux a plus) - 36 months - MVS-OS - 36 months * Must have the following business skills: - Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing - Ability to interact with functional users and technical staff regarding business and information technology needs - Ability to listen and solve problems * May be given additional consideration for the following skills: - Business Analyst - Web Programming / Development - Data Migration / Conversion - Project Management / Lead - Government Experience Technical/Functional Requirements: * Must be able to provide services to design and implement a strategy for installing, testing, and performance tuning an Informix Dynamic enterprise Server application in conjunction with the CM/ECF as follows: - Configure Informix according to application requirements and applicable best practices. - Assist with installing the CM/ECF application. - Perform basic tuning of the Informix instance including moving the physical log, logical logs, and creating additional dbspaces. - Observe and document packaged application behavior for the purpose of identifying such items as heavily hit tables and slow-running queries. - Develop and implement a backup strategy using ontape or onbar. * Must provide knowledge transfer & provide details on how this will be handled, including any documentation that will be provided. * Perform all activities necessary to ensure a properly functioning application.
