TIPS FOR SEARCHING---SOX, Security Engineer, Audit, intrusion, penetration,
firewalls, vulnerabilities, CISSP, CISA, IT Audit,
I have a need for a Sr. Security Consultant for a Penetration (PEN) test
engagement. The location is in the Westlake/Thousand Oaks area. The following
is a high level scope of work that would be completed by the consultant. The
actual scope is still being defined but this is what was done in the past for
this customer.
Initial investigation of publicly available data
Ø Gather information available from specified technology areas from the
companies partners/subsidiaries, InterNIC registration etc. and analyze it to
check for inadvertent tips offered about security mechanisms in place within
the organization.
External penetration test
Ø Use a combination of tools to test for and identify points of entry into
the internal network, such as firewalls, dial-in and VPN servers, modems etc,
and look for vulnerabilities.
Internal audit and evaluation
Ø Audit internal server configurations, interview key personnel from the
different departments to identify currently existing security policies and
practices and perform a visual inspection of the security awareness of
employees performing their day-to-day tasks.
Report findings, evaluate risks and offer recommendations
Ø Document findings from external and internal testing, analyze risks both
from technical and business perspective and provide high level recommendations
for mitigating high priority risks both in the short and longer term.
Deliverables:
Level 1 is a basic risk assessment report that outlines all risks encountered
from a technical perspective.
Level 2 is a business impact assessment report that prioritizes risks based on
the nature of the business transacted by the organization and also offers short
and longer term mitigation recommendations.
