Position: Oracle Database Sys. Engineer
Location: Plano, Texas
Duration: 6+ months
Rate $50/hr Max
Please ask them to rank their perl skills on a scale from 1 to 10. We are only
interested in interviewing candidates who would rate themselves a 7 or higher -
i.e. VERY Proficient at Perl.
Resumes should clearly articulate Database System Engineer related tasks and
activities. If the resumes just portray DBA work, the candidate will be
rejected.
· 3 - 5 years experience performing both Oracle DBA and Database
Engineering work - not looking for someone necessarily at the senior level - my
senior engineers will be delegating the work
· Experience with Oracle Names Server / Oracle Internet Directory
· Knowledge of basic Unix performance monitoring tools like glance,
perfview, top, sar, etc
· Ability to troubleshoot system problems and to work quickly to resolve
system outages
· Ability to work within a large and diverse team
· Must be able to communicate effectively with different teams and
provide courteous customer service
· Must be able to achieve results with little supervision
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Able to perform effectively under pressure or stress.
· Works well in a team environment.
· Displays a willingness to do whatever it takes to meet and exceed
expectations.
· Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and manage
own areas of responsibility.
· Can handle multiple concurrent tasks effectively.
· Excellent problem solver.
· Ability to rapidly learn and effectively apply new technologies and
procedures.
Description:
· Database System Engineer (not a DBA)
· Oracle DBA experience - on both Intel and Unix (HP / AIX)
· Installing Oracle
· Upgrading oracle
· Oracle RAC experience on Linux in a large shop, with a large deployment
· Backup / recovery using RMAN
· Performance tuning
· Can demonstrate previous implementation of proactive monitoring of a
database
· Unix Korn shell scripting
· Perl scripting
· Excellent communication skills
