Location: Bellevue, WA Duration: 4 Months Rate: $40/hr Validation Engineer will be responsible for leading Core/RAN Validation efforts, both in lab and field trials, for GSM and UMTS Core and Radio Access Network Equipment and End-to-End Complete System. Engineer will be responsible for Core/RAN Vendor hardware and software Quality, by leading Validation efforts in T-Mobile networks and by managing vendor internal validation processes. Validation Engineer is responsible for Core/RAN vendor validation, with this position focusing on validation of Ericsson based Hardware. Responsible for planning and execution of Lab and FOA Validation efforts for new Core/RAN vendor hardware, software and features. Responsible for general Core system testing on on an Ericsson MSS platform,. Responsible for general GERAN and UTRAN system test on RAN platforms emphasizing on Ericsson and Nortel. SIGTRAN interface Testing (Call Server to MGW, MGW to STP and MGW to BSCs and MGW to RNC) New Feature Testing relevant to MSC in Pool, VOIP, TFO, TRFO,Nb Over IP, BICC and so on in E/// MSS. VOIP / 611 by pass testing - Transport Design Validation relevance to SIP. Regression Testing of E/// CS Core with E/// RNC, Nortel BSC, IP ACCESS BSC, Ericsson BSC and related Intra and Inter MSC 3G-2G interactions. Responsible for improving vendor quality through the creation of new testing methods and test automation. Responsible for leading Proof of Concept trials in support of Design Engineering and New Technology teams. Support Design teams by providing feedback on vendor performance, quality and usability from lab/FOA trials and deployment Participate in Technical Review Meetings, Feature Design Reviews and other Design focused workshops to prepare for new technology validation efforts. Provide technical support for issues escalated beyond Tier II and for issues uncovered during early stages of SW/HW deployment. Support Performance and Capacity Engineering Lab and Field trials. Collect and analyze RF Performance statistics as part of RAN Lab and FOA trials. Responsible for competency transfer on RNC/NodeB O&M to the other staff engineers, Responsible for competence transfer on Advance MOShell scripting to the other staff engineers Minimum Required Skills / Competencies: 5+ years experience in Ericsson Core/RAN Systems Testing/Validation, 2+ years experience in Core/RAN Systems Design & Engineering, Strong organizational and communication skills. Capable of leading large, cross-functional test teams. Strong hands-on experience of Ericsson Core/RAN Equipment Acceptance testing, Production Deployment, Technical Test Report Writing, Network Engineering, Network Optimization, Network Feature Evaluation. Strong hands-on experience on working with Ericsson 2G/3G Hardware, this includes MSC/MGw/RNC/BSC/NodeB/RBS etc. SIGTRAN interface Testing (Call Server to MGW, MGW to STP and MGW to BSCs and MGW to RNC) New Feature Testing relevant to MSC in Pool, VOIP, TFO, TRFO,Nb Over IP, BICC and so on in E/// MSS. Strong hands-on experience with Advance MOShell scripting for MGw & RNC, Strong hands-on experience with Data Translation implementation for MSC configuration, Strong hands-on experience with Advance MOShell scripting, past experience generating CIQ/scripts for RNC Rehome, NodeB rehome, Iu CP/UP integration etc. Strong hands-on experience in implementing UMTS transport design, Strong hands-on experience in Software upgrade of 2G/3G Ericsson Nodes, Strong hands-on application level experience with Ericsson UMTS OSS applications, Strong hands-on experience implementing the SigTran over IP and ATM based UMTS interfaces, Working Knowledge and testing/Validation experience of Nortel BSS system is a plus, Good Linux / Unix /Solaris Operating system knowledge, Good knowledge of SQL database structures, database query writing and data manipulation, Experienced in GSM/UMTS Core/RAN network performance management and optimization, Solid understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, internetworking, SNMP, Routing/Bridging, Cisco routers/switches, security gateways, Solid understanding of IP network design, internetworking, IP network security, network management, IP mobility, VoIP, VPN tunneling, authentication, and Quality of Service (QoS), Good computer skills, self- motivated and ability to work under pressure, good interpersonal skills, Experience with network analyzing equipment including: GeoProbe, TEMS, Nethawk, Agilent DNA, Tek K15, etc, Ability to work with other engineering groups to identify overall network issues and identify solutions.
