Location: Alviso, CA Skills At least 10 years of commercial software development experience At least 2 years experience as a performance engineer/lead in a multi-tier server environment Expert at Java, C & C++ in LAMT (Linux-Apache-MySQL-Tomcat) server environments Experience with distributed, fault-tolerant, highly scalable systems on hardened Linux environments Experience with tuning J2EE application server performance including JVM memory usage, measurement and optimization Experience with SQL query optimization, MySQL DB server performance tuning and MySQL replication Understand common Java application development related technologies - Servlets, JDBC, XML, Web Services and other Java APIs Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. BS in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant discipline is required Demonstrated experience in developing production systems through multiple release cycles and product versions Effective communication skills working across internal company teams Teamwork - referenced ability to work well in a team exhibiting a willingness to learn from others and take responsibility for development Tasks/Responsibilities Evaluate server performance – Capacity, Scalability, bandwidth usage and transaction rate Document performance measurement results and analysis for internal and external publication Design infrastructure roadmap for measuring and optimizing performance Define and document performance test methodologies Design and develop measurement tools and performance test infrastructure Trouble-shoot deadlocks and investigate Database contention issues Observe and optimize products performance through hardware, Linux, Network, Apache, JVM, Tomcat, JDBC and MySQL database.
