Position: Programmer / Analyst - Cobol
Location: NY

Rate: $40-/hr 

Duration: 3 1/2 Months

 Requirement:

Programmer/Analyst to support ongoing production maintenance and enhancements 
to the Payroll Management System (PMS).   Under the direction of the 
Development Lead, the developer has the responsibility of performing complex 
programming tasks with a high degree of quality and efficiency while 
maintaining systems performance.  This position will require the ability to 
design, develop, test and implement changes in accordance with FISA's systems 
development life cycle.  This person will work with various teams but will need 
to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project 
deadlines. 

 

The Primary Responsibilities include: 

·         Work in a technical capacity while having a good understanding of 
business processes

·         Collaborate with other teams to provide analysis, design, development 
and testing guidance and support. 

·         Update documentation as required. 

·         Develop application/code including both enhancements and application 
code fixes.

·         Perform Production support which may require researching programs, 
doing data analysis, creating data fixes, reviewing logs, and other activities 
necessary to resolve the issue.  

·         Experience working with business analysts and working from business 
requirements and functional specifications 

 

Required Qualifications:

·          5+years experience programming COBOL in an IBM mainframe environment

·          3 + years experience programming SAS very important

·          5+ years designing and developing complex COBOL applications    

·          Experience working on an enterprise wide project a must

·          5+  years experience programming with DB2 databases

·          5+ years experience with VSAM files   

·          5+  years experience programming with IMS databases

·          5+ years experience with TSO, JCL, and IBM utilities. 

·          Overall strong knowledge of mainframe environment and application 
development tools. 

·          Excellent understanding of a systems development lifecycle 
methodology

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience working  on a payroll system

·         Experience working on  tax reporting systems  to state and federal 
governments

·         5+  years experience with Microsoft Access. 

·         Experience working with Payroll processing . 

·         Excellent Communications skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, 
and organizational skills are required 

·         Experience working within a matrix environment.  

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Masters degree in a technical/business discipline or 2-4 years 
practical technical/business experience
