Position: UNIX Admin.

Location: Durham, NC.

Rate: $30/hr

Duration: 6 + Months 

 

We have had several candidates interview for this position and they have 
informed us that they are overqualified.  They want someone w/ 1-2 yrs of 
experience or even out of school.    This is in Durham, NC for 6+ months.  This 
is a support role.   Must have strong Windows and Unix experience.  Ideal 
candidate would have 1+ years of production support in the financial services 
industry.   Someone who has been a intern or has one or so years of expereince. 
   Rates should be competitive since this is not a sr person.  Please send rate

      Responsibilities:

      ·         Fielding level one and two support calls and emails from LOCuS 
(FI Sales, Research & Analytics web-portal) internal and external users, 
internal CS client helpdesk and other global support personnel.

      ·         Investigation/resolution of many of these calls. This will 
involve an understanding of the LOCuS system and other such systems as well as 
the underlying business concepts. Investigation and resolution will include use 
of some customized support tools utilizing SQL, W2000, JavaScript and VB. 

      ·         Escalation. Be able to communicate issues to second/third line 
support, whether that is within LOCuS or other IT teams.

      ·         Escalate serious or consistent problems to management for 
resolution.

      ·         Perform production support activities for and monitoring of 
Sales & Research and Credit Derivatives applications.
     

 

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

      Skills
     
      Required Skills:

      Some level of skills in any of the following: XML, SQL, VB, JavaScript, 
C++, .Net.

      Working knowledge of other mixed infrastructure environments and tools 

      Good problem solving and analytical skills

      Financial Services - 3+ years

      Production Support - 3+ years

      Desired Skills:

      Windows 2000 and XP

      JavaScript
      XML,HTML,UNIX

      Fixed Income Products (recent knowledge)

      Operations - 1-2 years

      Sharepoint Experience a huge plus

      Personal Skills:

      Excellent oral and written communications

      Strong interpersonal skills along with good judgment and follow through.

      Team player, High energy, Proactive   

      Works well under pressure
      Willing to learn about new areas and proactively look to resolve problems

      Will have a great deal of interaction with the users, so financial 
experience and approachable demeanor is important.                       
     

 

DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

      Experience / Background
     
      3+ years of system support experience under Windows environment.  
Combination technical support / business analyst as part of the client services 
team providing real-time solutions and troubleshooting for internal users and 
external clients.  In addition, this position will also monitor production 
processes, confirm web site content updates and facilitate escalation. The 
client support team works with applications developed for the front office 
Fixed Income Sales, Research & Analytics desks and the front office Credit 
Derivatives traders.
