Location: Minneapolis, MN Duration: 1 year + Best Rate: $45-$50/hr Work Schedule: 5 day week with flexible hours Reporting: Position will report to Development Manager for Payments distributed software Responsibilities: 1. Will join the FedACH Payments development team, with focus on complex J2EE high-volume transactional applications. Work environment may include UP Programming methodology, collaborative work environment, and iterative development with a high level of team interaction. 2. Primary responsibility will be collaborative J2EE development on our Transaction Services applications, including instrumentation for performance and monitoring for event-driven transaction processing software, as project tasks dictate. Significant emphasis on development and performance tuning of high-volume transaction processing code. 3. Work with our FRS information security architecture group on policies and procedures for integration of rich client technology. 4. Develop software on WebSphere/Eclipse J2EE platform. 5. Responsible for estimating, tracking, and reporting status on tasks. Required Skills and Experience: The person selected will be part of team developing software for our Information and Transaction Services applications and will have experience with designing solutions crossing multiple platforms and technologies. These projects involve taking an existing project plan and requirements and refining both through active communication with others on the team and project management. The person must have demonstrated excellent application programming and testing skills, experience with performance tuning of high-volume transaction processing, and superlative interpersonal and communication skills - must be a team player. Specifically: 1. Require eight years of information services experience to include five years application development and testing experience in a distributed environment. 2. Require 5 years J2EE development experience. Prefer WebSphere development experience. 3. Require 5 years of high-volume transaction processing experience (5,000+ transactions / second). Must have experience with tuning high-volume applications for performance and instrumentation of code for tuning and monitoring. 4. Require 4 years UNIX experience. 5. Require formal training in object-oriented methodologies and 4 years experience with object-oriented design 6. Require demonstrated experience building and implementing software solutions and design patterns requiring complex technologies in an enterprise environment requiring integration between the mainframe and distributed platforms. 7. Demonstrated skill in estimating and tracking progress of tasks, as well as in making recommendations for adjusting project plans as needed. 8. Must have experience resolving complex system problems in a team setting, including evaluation of options to determine optimal solution. 9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team. 1.. Strong conflict resolution skills using a win/win approach. 2.. Communicates proactively in a project environment with colleagues and management on a wide variety of project issues. Key skills include mentoring experience, issue identification and resolution, status updating, and analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions. 3.. Communicates effectively on complex technical matters to non-technical audiences, including the FRS business community. Communications could include presentations, training, documentation, memos, etc. Deliverables: 1. Ongoing input to the project leadership teams on critical tasks and/or issues. 2. Build of information and transactional services in a J2EE environment as project tasks dictate. 3. Tuning of application for high-volume transaction performance. 4. Integration of information between the Information and Transaction Services applications. 5. Develop software on WebSphere/Eclipse J2EE platforms. 6. Development and leadership tasks as assigned.
