Job Description:
The Data Warehouse Data Modeler is responsible for gathering and documenting
end-user requirements for the data warehouse, defining the mapping necessary in
the logical model that is the basis of the physical database design for the
data warehouse, developing functional specifications for end user report
requests, developing a process for any necessary cleansing of the data,
participating in the data warehouse prioritization process, developing and
executing test plans, and developing report sets for new subject area rollouts.
This is for a 6-9 month contract for an expert-level SQL Server OLAP developer
responsible for selecting, designing and implementing the framework for our
data warehouse and reporting system. This person will also train the permanent
data warehouse developer as necessary to facilitate a smooth handoff when the
contract is over.
Responsibilities
· Provides service to ISD client community, patients, families and
visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and
information through physical and electronic measures.
· Serves as lead in developing and implementing a data warehouse
strategic plan.*
· Analyzes and recommends to management how to best develop and enhance
the data warehouse to meet the organization's reporting requirements.*
· Understands the database model and data elements to identify needed
modifications to the Cerner supplied data warehouse.
· Leads end-user design sessions to define requirements for reporting
and develop functional specifications.*
· Understands and applies concepts of such tools as Business Objects and
Informatica to create universes and map the data and/or modify the Cerner
developed universes.
· Defines extract/import logic and identify methods for transforming or
cleansing the data as needed to meet report specifications.*
· Audits and assesses data for accuracy and develop quality assurance
and testing standards, policies and procedures.*
· Develops and executes test plans to ensure data quality.*
· Develops a plan to establish data warehousing priorities that includes
a clinician oversight process.
· Leads and manages the data warehouse prioritization process, provides
work effort and timeline estimates, maintains documentation of requests and
communicates status of projects to executive level staff.*
· Attends annual Hospital and departmental fire/safety and infection
control training and maintains current knowledge of safety procedures within
the Hospital and department.*
· Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
