Cisco Resident Engineer accountabilities: a.. Build, configure and deploy Cisco VOIP Infrastructure components. b.. Troubleshoot, support, maintain and upgrade voice related hardware, voice software and voice network problems that include Cisco network and VoIP PBX hardware, Cisco VoIP software and carrier network technologies. c.. Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and support production enterprise data network elements including but not limited too LAN, WAN and wireless hardware, LAN, WAN and Wireless software and carrier services interconnecting the business locations and connection to business partners. d.. Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP, QoS, and other voice related network protocols and underlying routing/WAN and switching/LAN topologies. e.. Work with carriers to provision and disconnect network services for the voice and data network environment. f.. Build, configure, integrate and manage voice related reporting, e911 and various other voice service related hardware and software. g.. Build, configure, integrate and manage data network related monitoring, systems reporting and capacity planning software and hardware systems. h.. Assist in the documentation of the voice and data network as well as assist in the development and documentation of standards, guidelines and procedures appropriate for the voice and data network infrastructure. i.. Backup the Administrative Role duties and support Help Desk when additional expertise is required. Provide direct support to end users in the area of voice and data communications and related software applications. j.. Leverage deep understanding of business and/or technology to proactively identify and prioritize solutions that drive business value. Cisco Resident Engineer Required Qualifications: a.. Associates degree and five years voice and data infrastructure experience or 7+ years experience without an Associates Degree. b.. Experience with network carriers in both circuit provisioning processes on PSTN (T-1 PRIs, POTS, e911) technologies and troubleshooting carrier problems. c.. Thorough knowledge of and progressive experience working with Cisco hardware specific to 7200/3800/2800 series routers, 3600/3700/6500 series L2/L3 LAN switches, and Call Manager Cluster server hardware. d.. Thorough knowledge and progressive experience working with Cisco Call Manager in a production environment with in depth knowledge of Cisco software specific to Call Manager versions 4.x/5.x/6.x, Cisco Emergency Responder versions 2.x/3.x and Cisco IP Call Center version 4.x. e.. Thorough knowledge and progressive experience working with and configuring voice call routing, call patterns, voice trunks, dial plans, device pools, backup and restore, bulk administration and voice gateway configuration and troubleshooting in a Cisco VoIP environment. f.. Thorough knowledge and progressive experience working with carrier physical network technologies such as POTS, fraction T-1, clear channel T-1, T-3, Metro Ethernet and SONET with specific emphasis on configuration, integration and support in a Cisco centric environment. g.. Thorough knowledge and experience working with carrier networking protocols such as ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS, ISDN/PRI and ISDN/BRI with specific emphasis on configuration, integration and support in a Cisco centric environment. h.. Competent with IP routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF and BGPv4 with specific emphasis on configuration, integration and support in a Cisco centric environment. i.. Competent with IP network protocol, TCP and UDP transport protocols and upper layer communications mechanisms including but not limited to QoS, multicast protocols, Cisco access control lists and other voice related network protocols with specific emphasis on configuration, integration and support in a Cisco centric environment. j.. Experience with Cisco wireless services modules, Cisco 12xx series access points and Cisco Wireless Control System software a plus. k.. Experience with ISI call detail reporting software a plus.
