Sr. / Lead Websphere Admin with Glassfish and JCAPS (Java Caps)
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 6 Months
Expertise in: Glassfish and JCAPS (Java Caps)
This position participates in a team environment installing, configuring and
supporting Web Infrastructure including Java Application Server and Web Servers
such as WebSphere Application Server, Tomcat, and Sun Java Systems Web Server &
Apache. These technologies are leveraged to support the development and ongoing
sustainment of applications created to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
This position provides technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in
performing day to day work.
Expected duties include but are not limited to; software installation, upgrade,
and patches; troubleshooting; performance tuning; and documentation.
In this position it is essential that departmental policies and procedures be
adhered to. Those include, but not limited to; technical and architecture
standards, production implementation standards, regular status reporting,
regular participation in team meetings, regular one on one meetings with
supervisor and team lead, and providing work estimates and regular time
tracking.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment.
A minimum of 2 years with Java Application Servers including WebSphere,
Glassfish & Tomcat.
A minimum of 2 years with Web Servers including iPlanet / Sun Web Servers &
Apache.
A minimum of 2 years UNIX administration experience including AIX, Solaris
and/or Linux .
Must be able to automate tasks through shell scripting, Jython/Python and/or
Perl.
Experience with J2EE Development Concepts, LDAP Directory Servers, JMS/MQ
Series & OpenSSO a plus.
Must understand how applications interface with infrastructure.
Demonstrated understanding of basic network infrastructure including DMZs, load
balancers and firewalls and how they apply to applications and projects.
Demonstrated experience interfacing with vendors to solve product problems and
driving the vendor to resolution in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to work with other technical teams to troubleshoot
problems.
Must be able to develop positive relationships and communicate effectively with
clients, coworkers and management.
Must be able to work effectively with other team members.
Must be able to work with minimum direction and plan own work.
Must be able to take direction from others in analyzing and solving software
product issues and problems.
