Sr. Database Administrator The successful candidate will have a strong background in relational databases with strong focus on management and optimization of MySQL. The individual will work closely with the System/Data architect and Production DBAs to support the various database projects. The position will require travel within the US with occasional overseas travel. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: · Perform the installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, SQL execution, and all other tasks related with managing the MySQL RDBMS with an emphasis on uptime, scalability and performance. · Participate in the long term planning and development of tools and scripts for automation. · Work closely with the system architects to understand requirements and recommend best design practices. · Monitor and analyze databases for performance bottlenecks and identify solutions for performance tuning and data modeling. · Create policies, procedures, standards and documentation of best practices. · Provide escalation support for a 24x7 operation with the ability to work non-standard hours · Be a team player and communicate effectively across multiple teams. · Willing to take on challenges and focus on rapid execution. Requirements: · BS in Computer Science/Computer engineering or equivalent experience. · 5+ years hands-on experience designing and deploying high volume, high availability networks · 5+ years of professional MySQL database administration experience in a production support role. · Experience with MySQL replication setup and administration. · High volume OLTP and Batch database experience desirable. · Strong knowledge in database performance strategies, tuning MySQL DB and scaling databases. · Experience with internationalization requirements for databases. · Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail. · Strong team player with exceptional communication abilities. · Working knowledge of Linux Operating systems, shell scripting and other languages (PERL, SQL etc.). · Working knowledge of system structures - TCP/IP, RAID, Volume management, backups. · Working knowledge of hardware devices, operating systems, databases and how they interrelate. · Linux /Solaris10 administration experience is an added advantage · Knowledge of Oracle DB is an advantage.
