Common Responsibilities: - Performs analysis and diagnosis of networking problems. - Performs analysis of network designs. - Builds simulated networks in test labs to resolve problems and compatibility issues. - The NCE may perform any of the following components of the role breakdown depending on specific engagements: *Transactional Projects Project Engineering role:* Generates standard project documentation including detailed test plan Generates network configurations from Low Level Design and implements them Plans and executes Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity. *Reactive Service & Support:* - Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies. - Acts as a focal point for highly complex network problem resolution. *Requirements:* Typically requires BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 4-6 years relevant experience in network engineering or telecommunications support environment. Advanced degree strongly preferred. - Strong knowledge in TWO of the following and basic knowledge in all other areas of: IP internetworking, LAN Switching, Voice technologies, IP Telephony, SAN, DCN, Optical, IPCC; IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP). - Knowledge and experience in Data Center products like Cisco WAAS, ACE, CSS, CSM, GSS, ACNS, Nexus 7K, 5K, 2K, 1K and UCS a plus. - Intermediate level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment. - Large-scale network design skills preferred. - In-depth knowledge of network management, network availability and capacity planning are a plus.
