*Oracle DBA6 +months ContractJersey City,NJ* Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g databases used by the trading systems. Willingness to learn and support new and legacy database platforms. Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources are optimally allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance. To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. Responsible for providing trend analysis to the production support, system administration and development teams to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management. Responsible for problem escalation to the operations team and third parties as appropriate. What You Bring to the Team: 5+ Years of in depth Oracle Database administration experience on UNIX (preferably Solaris) and Linux (preferably RedHat) environments. Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC); Oracle Data Guard; Oracle RMAN backup and recovery procedures; and Oracle Grid Control Exposure to other database platforms including: Ingres, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgresSQL, and Sybase. Experience with UNIX shell scripting. Experience troubleshooting and tuning Oracle SQL statements. Experience with database upgrades – specifically 10g to 11g Strong project management skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as documentation skills, to include solid experience in deploying software and writing functional procedures Knowledge of the following Microsoft products: Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Visio Understanding of customer demand and technology innovation to meet client present and future requirements Ability to work/interface with multiple Lines of Business and geographies. Proven record of internal customer support *Education:* Certifications in business core products a plus: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – preferred but not essential.
