These include the DB2 software itself, the TMON monitoring tool(RC Query, RC Migrator, Plan Analyzer, and Database Analyzer). - Monitors DB/2 production servers for potential problems. - Applies upgrades along with Business System Services to DB/2 in test and production. - Along with Business Systems Services, installs and maintains software used for supporting and monitoring DB/2. - Assists all development work on DB/2. This includes helping with application development, designing and creating database objects, migrating from test to production, and implementing batch schedules with the appropriate DB2 utilities. - Reviews all data models for technical accuracy. This includes the enforcement of all modeling and naming standards. - Performs all structural changes to DB/2 databases. - Works with Security Administration to insure that proper security is in place for DB/2 data. - Has in-depth knowledge of mainframe environments such as MVS, ISPF, JCL and CICS. - Develops and documents overall vision for DB/2 in our environment. - Provides information to developers and operators on all components of DB/2 that are of interest through the Web, Infoshares, or other mediums. - Analyze and correct problems that occur in the DB/2 environment. This includes nightly support for the batch environment. - Administer the data server on which DB/2 resides: monitor disk space and the DB2 log, backups, protect the integrity of the data. - Provide assistance for interfaces which access DB2. These include Rochade, FOCUS, AMS Core software, and the gateway. - Serve as an overall DB2 resource and keep abreast of new developments in the DB2 world through journals, newsgroups, the Web, and the DB2 Users Group.
