Understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. 2. Work closely with business users to define intuitive interfaces and data structures that support the users' information needs. 3. Advise the BI group in all database-related activities, and provide Oracle expertise for the BI group. 4. Proficient with accessing data in Oracle 9, 10, and 11, TOAD, and implementing data solutions utilizing PL/SQL. 5. Develop and optimize reports, including tuning queries in an Oracle environment. 6. Design new or additional data movements between transactional and reporting databases, and within reporting databases, using specs modeled on user needs. Be able to translate those user needs to technical requirements. 7. Support current ETL processes and provide troubleshooting of those processes. 8. Assist in validating information back to the data source systems and marrying that data to the business requirements. 9. Analyze external system change impacts on the complete reporting solution, and design and implement solutions adjust to them. 10. Participate in Cognos software upgrade impact analysis, upgrade planning, and implementation 11. Trouble-shoot cube and query build issues and errors as required. 12. Provide production monitoring and user support for the reporting systems (world-wide and 24x7). 13. Provide 24x7 on call support in a rotation as required. 14. Work with other business intelligence team members to meet support and project milestones, manage client satisfaction, and mentor other team members. 15. Provide strategic guidance and design of the data warehouse and reporting solution, based on both the short and long term company direction. Be able to articulate the costs, benefits, and weaknesses of various approaches, and provide the best technical recommendation, based on this analysis. 16. Balance the strategic and tactical approaches on projects and support tasks. 17. Ability to see the "big picture" required, and to provide innovative solutions to business requirements. 18. Capability to provide short-term solutions that align with long-term goals, directions, and objectives. 19. Be detail-oriented and results-focused with a total commitment to team success, excellence, and quality assurance. *Requirements: *1. Troubleshooting and data flow analysis skills required. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot reporting issues back to the root cause, and then perform corrective actions required. 2. Proficient in developing test plans based on system and validation requirements. 3. Knowledge of Vision Care manufacturing and Quality systems, including MES, VIBES, and LIMS required. 4. Client facing / consulting skills, such as the ability to work with the business partners to translate business requirements into potentially complex technical solutions that meet or exceed those business needs. 5. Familiar with SDLC and other related development methodologies 6. Self-directed and able to work in a team-based environment. 7. Ability to communicate and work effectively with business partners, management, and IM at all levels. 8. Proficiency with Business Intelligence and/or analytical tools preferred (Cognos, Oracle, SAS). 9. Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or other mainstream database technology required. 10. Knowledge of, and demonstrated proficiency in, implementing best practices in data design, conceptual, and logical modeling required. 11. Cognos 8 Framework Manager and Report Studio and related OLAP experience. 12. Cognos 8 administration experience. Performance tuning, and content promotion proficiency necessary. 13. Cognos Data Manager, Cognos DecisionStream and Informatica experience required. 14. Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle database design, tuning, performance management, and troubleshooting required. 15. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
