Client is looking for an experienced *MySQL database administrator* interested in supporting the next generation e-commerce platform. The ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge in database management and tuning for high-performance web applications; expertise in MySQL administration; real-world experience maintaining systems requiring high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and secured data. Responsible for the design, verification and deployment of large and complex MySql environments.

Work with development teams on schema design, schema optimization and query tuning. Responsible for MySQL performance tuning; may write and tune SQL or optimize ORM frameworks or tools. Ensure MySQL servers run at optimal health; performance troubleshooting as necessary (resource profiling, index management, disk I/O, CPU, identify bottlenecks, etc...).

Develop, implement, document and test complex high availability and backup & recovery strategies for all database platforms. Responsible for the administration, optimization, monitoring, tuning and backup/retrieval of enterprise size databases. Develop and maintain database level security, implement database security roles and audit database security. Work with system administration team to plan for and manage db storage and capacity.

Develop automation tools surrounding deployment, monitoring, performance and capacity utilization. Establishes and maintains policies, standard operating procedures, and associated documentation for user interaction with the database environment. Cross-train the Site Production team in running and maintaining production databases. May participate in data migration activities or work with application development teams to provide database access and knowledge

*Experience Required *
Overall 5-10 years of IT experience Minimum of 3 to 5 years of MySQL administration. Intermediate knowledge of LAMP environments. Solid, demonstrable Linux administration skills Hands on experience with MySQL replication, synchronization, backup and recovery. Experience configuring and troubleshooting replication. Intermediate knowledge of MySQL performance tuning. Expert knowledge of SQL (joins, sub-queries, etc...)

Experience with InnoDB, MyISAM and other storage engines. Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases Perl and Bash or other scripting experience required. Solid understanding and experience utilizing LVM Prior experience in designing OLTP in high volume scalable solutions with good performance. Comfortable with system tools (iostat, lsof, etc.) and have a favorite file-system Excellent customer services skills. Ability to manage priorities in a fast paced changing environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*Desirable Experience *
Experience running MySQL in a virtualized or cloud environment. Understanding and experience with Chef. Understanding of Nagios or Cacti monitoring system. Experience working with offshore team members. Education Oracle Certified Associate, MySQL 5 is highly desired. Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Database Administrator and Developer certification a strong plus. A four year degree is preferred.
