*Job Description *
Sr. Red Hat Linux Engineer {Red Hat Linux 5, 6} working with application
development and core services to implement and maintain Red Hat Linux
distributed systems. Seeking a senior level engineer with strong Red Hat
Linux based operating system skills, including Linux clustering technology,
administration, configuration management, and LADP integration. Knowledge
of SAN storage management, and VMWare ESX a plus. Provides Linux Operations
support for the large distributed-based systems, including installation,
maintenance, support, and documentation of hardware/software procedures.
*Functional Responsibilities: *
· -Collaborates with other EI Engineering Groups, Core Services,
some application development units, and vendors/distributors to set up and
provide continued support per application requirements
· -Upgrades, installs, and ensures Distributed operating system
releases and patches, as well as related systems software, are distributed
and functioning on an approved standards level
· -Coordinates with 3d party service providers to perform the
installation of servers and upgrades, including hardware, operating
systems, and related systems software
· -Installation, testing, documenting, configuration and
maintenance of Red Hat Linux operating systems and associated
component/tools
· -Performs testing and creates installation documentation for
software installations (Patches, hot fixes ETC.).
· -Provides second and third level support for problem management.
· -Resolves critical errors and service interruptions.
· --Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
*Job Requirements *
*Competency Requirements: *
· Looking for detailed technical knowledge and experience with the
Linux operating system product line with strong knowledge and practice in
clustering, Blade server technology, network configurations and SAN
technology.
· Desired hardware platform experience: HP Proliant stand alone, HP
C7000 blade technology and IBM X 86 server suites
· Experience with supporting VMware versions 3.5 and vSphere 4.1
environments. Server migrations and consolidations using VMware.
Performance monitoring and troubleshooting virtual server problems using
Virtual Center. Knowledge of VMware vCloud is a plus.
· Knowledge of Linux Red Hat 5.X and 6.X on x86.
· 5 +years experience as a Linux server systems administrator
· Knowledge of TCP/IP connectivity and hardware environments
· Ability to apply system and program product patches
· A strong knowledge and practice on SAN, EMC, Symmetix, etc a plus
· Needs to have strong skills in Disaster Recovery procedures and
practices as well as Linux security
· Needs to be experienced in performance tuning, analysis and
benchmarking
· Must be able to work with multiple groups to perform enterprise
initiatives
· Experience in migrating applications for AIX/Unix to Red Hat Linux
· Strong shell scripting skills a real plus
· Must have strong organizational, communication and project
management skills
· Must be able to work independently but also as an integral part
of the team
· Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline and
5+ years. relevant IT experience
· Automation experience, preferably using Bash, Perl, Python or
Ruby.
· Able to support various Databases, Oracle, DB2/UDB. Mongo.
· Must be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance
