*Position: Business Intelligence Systems Analyst* *Location: Oakland, CA * *Duration: 12 Months* *F2F is MUST !!! Local candidates required.* *Description*: - Position requires considerable administrative and technical coordination in a highly complex technical and organizational environment. The resulting systems include extremely complex state of the art enterprise Decision Support Systems. - Responsible for eliciting business requirements from business users and translating them into technical specifications used in the design, development and maintenance of the decision support systems. This will include the development of mapping specifications, report specifications, report layout and test plans. - Act as a primary interface with the Business Partners to elicit and translate business requirements into a business requirements document and technical specifications for the development of the data and metadata structure in the decision support systems. - Collaborate with the Business Intelligence Architect and data modelers in the translation of business requirements into a dimensional data model and related metadata. - Assist in source definition for the data warehouse attributes. Map attributes to source including identification and documentation of transformation algorithms as necessary. Document findings in the metadata repository. - Aid in the planning, build and execution of testing for the system. Assist in mentoring other technical staff members in business processes. - Responsible for Documenting Report Specifications, defining report layouts. Maintain the developed data structures, ETL business rules, and associated metadata after initial implementation. - Applies advanced IT concepts to perform highly complex technical functions from multiple IT areas of specialization. - Collaborate with other IT BI team members in the development and implementation of standards, policies, and best practices in the development and maintenance of the decision support systems. - Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system. - Provide the IT BI Manager and the BI Architect with status and progress reports on development and maintenance activities as required. *Requirements*: - Extensive experience in identifying and documenting business requirements in a data warehouse environment, including use of joint application design facilitation or other requirements gather techniques. - Minimum five years' experience in data related work with at least three years as a senior systems or business analyst for large, complex Business Intelligence systems. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and complex business concepts in technical terms. - Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work on cross-functional teams. - Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Preferred*: - Self-motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision, and able to work well with stakeholders and project staff. - Extensive experience in building enterprise conceptual and logical data models, data profiling, data modeling, data mapping and metadata efforts and data quality initiatives. - Ability to prioritize and multi-task across numerous work streams. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize technical work and deliverables.
