*APPLICATION DBA – DATABASE MODELER*

*JOB SUMMARY*
We are implementing an extensive set of integration tests for a system
that conducts over 4 billion dollars of business per year. We are in the
midst of creating v2.0 of our claims processing engine and will be
undertaking large refactoring efforts. The job of the Application DBA will
be to provide DBA support to our application support staff in the form of
performance tuning SQL for high-scalability, understanding the current data
model, and the ability to identify impact on our current code base for DDL
schema changes. This person will also lead the effort in database
migration scripts and act as backup DBA to approve or comment on proposed
schema changes. This will require the ability to read code in languages
like Java and Python to identify potential impact as well as extensive SQL
skills.
If you have strong DBA and SQL skills, are able to evaluate code for
potential impact, and thrive on writing complex scripts then you are the
person we need. You need to be a self-starter with good communication
skills who can draft a plan by extracting knowledge from many engineers who
only have partial visibility to the stack.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
• 2+ years of Oracle SQL Performance and Tuning
experience
• Extensive Database change management experience
• RDBMS schema refactoring experience with
experience releasing breaking changes to prod with minimal downtime
• Solid Java and J2EE experience
• 4+ years’ experience as Application DBA
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to
solicit and formalize requirements and work with end users/customers
• Ability to work in a semi-structured environment
where requirements and priorities are dynamic
• Experience with agile development methodology
*HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
• Experience with agile development methodology
• Experience using Datical for database change
management
• Experience in HIPAA and PCI security Domain
• Experience with Test Driven Design (TDD)
methodology
• JavaServer Faces (JSF) technology knowledge and
experience
• Good understanding of junit testing and continuous
integration environment
• Working knowledge of developing and deploying
applications in Weblogic portal environment
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and
experience working with web services
• Experience in the insurance industry, specifically
with the health care industry
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science,
Information Systems, Engineering or a related field or comparable work
experience
• This job’s responsibilities may include task
assignment to support, administer, or access systems, which contractually
requires ADP I or II Public Trust Access Level. Eligibility for ADP
Clearance requires US Citizenship.
