*JOB DETAILS:* Job title: Junior Level Web Application Developer Location: Silver Spring, MD Duration: 6 months Visa: USC or GC only Looking for a Junior Level Web Application Developer who performs in-depth and complex software systems development and analysis with strong web and with object-oriented application development skills. The candidate will work with various technical and non-technical teams but will also need to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. The candidate must be a confident self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment. *Responsibilities:* § Develop code using industry best practices for maintenance of external/internal web site(s), the web-based system(s). § Creating, enhancing, and implementing new web page designs using HTML, JavaScript, CSS3, jQuery, Web services, XML interacting with backend relational databases. § Ability to work collaboratively with a team on a variety of projects, resolve problems in a production environment and extend functionality within current web-based applications. § Work with clients and team members to determine creative design options that best meet the business requirements and mission goals. § Add valuable input throughout the development lifecycle § Resolve reported issues and reply to queries in a timely manner § Develop and utilize technical change documentation § Strive to deploy all products and updates on time § Remain up to date on all current best practices, trends, and industry developments § Maintain a high standard of work quality § Identify potential challenges and bottlenecks to address them proactively § Assist in requirements gathering activities and providing Level of Effort (LOEs) estimation for each requirement for development perspective. § Participate in requirements, design, and code reviews § Experience performing unit testing and integration testing to validation solutions Create and implement designs following industry standard coding standards § Maintain and support applications as necessary § Participate in group improvement activities and initiatives to improve quality and pursue excellence *Highly Desired: Configuration Management (Release, Build, and Deployment) Responsibilities:* § Manage the build and release lifecycle for the client’s applications environments § Planning the release roadmap § Scheduling the releases § Participate in CCB meetings from a release perspective § Conduct periodic reviews concerning release readiness, schedule reviews, Go/No Go reviews § Implement rollback plan in case of release failure § Define and own the release process and tools, enhance it as required § Manage build and release toolsets, and ongoing maintenance and enhancements § Analyze previous release reports and plan corrective actions to improve the overall release process § Create deployment, run books, and implementation plans *Qualifications:* The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: § 0-2 years of experience with n-tier Java Web-based systems design and development. § Develop back-end, middle, or front-end components in common object-oriented languages – Java, Python, Ruby, C++, or Visual Basic .NET required. § Good understanding of Object-Oriented Principles § Experience working with databases (Sybase, PostgreSQL, MySQL or other) § Experience developing and maintaining websites with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, leaflet, jQuery, Web services, Java, § PL/SQL, CGI, Perl and relational databases. § Experience in Web Service technologies such as SOAP/WSDL and REST developing RESTful APIs for data retrieval and Web Applications. § Proficient in the use of browser Developer Tools for troubleshooting § Experience in Mobile Application Development § Test web applications in multi-platform, cross-browser development. § Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology § Ability to work independently and as part of a team. § Must be able to meet assigned development goals with a high quality of output and meet target delivery dates. § Remain up to date on all current best practices, trends, and industry developments supporting the business § Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PostgreSQL, MySQL relational databases. *Highly desired: Configuration Management (Release, Build, and Deployment) Qualifications:* § Solid understanding of source code control systems, branching, merging, releases, etc. § Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence, Bugzilla. § Background in Linux troubleshooting is required. § maintaining application build & deployment plans, as well as assisting the software engineering team with implementations § Experience with automation/configuration management using Chef, Salt, Puppet, or an equivalent is nice to have. § Test Automation experience is a plus. § Experience with jUnit, jMeter is desirable. § Experience with Ansible is desirable. *Desired Qualifications:* § Demonstrated experience in developing accessible websites (508 compliance) § Deployment of open source solutions, e.g., Drupal, WordPress. § Certification in a web application, Object Oriented programing language such as Java is preferred. § Experience working with Linux/Unix, Fortran, Power Builder, C, PHP, Perl, Subversion, NetBeans or Eclipse § Experience working in a government client environment § An understanding of Linux command line is a plus § Experience participating in an agile development team and knowledge of standard Agile/Scrum practices as well as other software development methodologies (waterfall, spiral, etc.) § Experience building Responsive UI websites § Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and procedures for large systems with high-availability requirements § Experience with GitHub, Maven, Nexus, Jira, Chef or Puppet, CloudFormation, Jenkins or TeamCity, AWS or Azure *Education* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or
