Please forward the resumes to [email protected] Position: Mainframe Operations Specialist Location: Milwaukee WI Duration: Long term *Responsibilities and duties include * 24x7 monitoring of mainframe systems operations via master console; Batch job scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting with escalation to appropriate technical staff when necessary Operation of and intervention on the Virtual Tape System (VTS) and file system backup to include tape rotation and monitoring. Operation of Xerox 4127 for printing of documents, checks and report distribution Performing file transfer procedure under the direction of the Treasurer’s office Performing id management and other helpdesk duties including ticket creation and customer service via telephone Monitoring of network time clocks countywide Preparing tapes for offsite storage Updating and maintaining a data center documentation manual Performing minor preventive maintenance on I/O and peripheral equipment Monitoring data center environmentals Coordinating, scheduling, and following-up with equipment vendors and technical guidance Assisting programmers in the detection and correction of error situations Expediting system recovery routines Performing job setup and JCL submissions Ordering paper stock and other data operations supplies *Job Knowledge * Knowledge of Data Center organization, operations, and functional responsibilities Data processing concepts and techniques Principles, operation, and care of electronic data processing, peripheral, and data communications equipment MVS operating system, CICS, and DB2 operation Proficient in the use of JCL and TSO *Qualifications/Background and Education * Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and at least 1 year experience in a large-scale mainframe environment.
