On the UDB DBA Team, you'll assist with projects for Data Warehouse/Business
Intelligence initiatives. Primary focus will be to continue to help build
and support the UDB Database for Business Intelligence framework in a very
large database (VLDB) environment. See yourself driving solutions with
business clients and partners to integrate with the existing technical
environment while providing flexibility for future business growth regarding
application architecture, development and support.
Experienced UDB V9 Data Warehousing DBA
" Participate in 7x24 on-call rotation
" Improving the quality of the operational environment by monitoring,
reducing or eliminating unplanned outages, defects, and problems, and by
increasing reliability, availability and performance
" Proven ability to create, administer, migrate and effectively performance
tune high availability UDB databases
" Aptitude towards proactive systems monitoring
" Experience Writing and Tuning simple and complex SQL statements
" Experience with logical to physical data model conversion
" Must possess working knowledge and hands on experience in following:
o Data movement in DB2 (load, import, move)
o Database backups & restores
o Table reorgs
o Database Migrations and Upgrades
o Straight and Redirected Database restore
o Performance Tuning of complex SQL statements
" Good understanding of
o DB2 configuration parameters
o Db2 Registry variables
o DB2 Explain
o Query Performance Tuning
o Kornshell scripting
" Good knowledge in following technologies will be a plus
o DB2 Database Partitioning Feature
o Materialized Query Tables
o Multi Dimensional Clustering
o Query Patroller
o DB2 Governor
o DB2 Compression
o DB2 Secure Shell (SSH) configuration
o Erwin
o Datastage ETL jobs tuning
" Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
" 4-year college degree or equivalent IT industry experience
" Five years of experience building and supporting databases on a Unix
platform
" Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and assess and execute
without direction
" Ability to manage and meet deadlines
" Ability to perform complex analysis and tasks successfully and in a timely
manner
" Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
" Demonstrated leadership on team and project teams

" Knowledge of retail systems
" Data modeling experience
