Web Presence Portal (WPP) is the replacement project for the current KP.org
membership website and some features have been migrated to Production.
Target for 2011 is Release 4 and Release 5 with tight deadlines for
performance risk assessment deliverables.
Job Summary
A software engineer with a performance engineering background and a
successful track record of delivering improved performance for enterprise
solutions. The engineer will design, develop, and conduct performance tests,
simulations, and prototypes. He/she will also be involved in systems
monitoring and analyze results to identify areas of performance risks and
provide further recommendations, where appropriate. Examples of such
functions include, but not limited to:
• Design, development and execution of simulations, profile
testing, and performance testing design and execution
• Design, development and collection of instrumentation data for
systems monitoring
• Statistical analysis of test results for risk identification
This person will work closely with the Project Manager to support
performance-focused initiative. The technician needed for this position will
be hands-on and able to support leading performance practices.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Supports performance goals for the project
• Responsible for the following on a project:
o Design, construction and execution of stubs, agents, scripts
that simulate end-user behavior
o Design and development of instruments and monitors
o Technical risk assessment and resolution of performance
issues. For example, preparing reports to end-users and business unit
leaders on status, problems, issues and underlying performance problems
and/or tuning recommendations
Qualifications
• Requires 4+ years experience developing and/or leading
performance issues on projects, such as:
o System performance monitoring, tuning and reporting
o Software tool performance monitoring, tuning and reporting
o Preparation of software tuning recommendations
• Two or more of the following technical skills
o Performance Center Load Runner 9 – Vugen, LR Analysis
o Shell, Perl scripting
o AIX 5.2 and above
o Solaris 10
o C/C++
o Java
o Websphere 6.1 (Application Server and Portal)
o SOA and web services on zLinux platform
o Oracle db performance analysis
• Proficient with Monitoring tools
o Vmstat, Netstat, Iostat, NMON, ESAR
o Sitescope
o Websphere - Tivoli ITCAM, Foglight GC analysis tools
• Bachelor’s degree
• Personable and diplomatic team player, with the ability to
work well in a team environment
• Experience in a technical role on at least 2 full lifecycle
medium-sized projects lasting more than 6 months
• Ability to define and distill detailed functional and
non-functional technical requirements
• Detailed knowledge of prototyping, performance testing and
benchmarking of third party product integration
