Description:
The Storage Administrator provides hands-on day-to-day technical support for
Emerson’s SAN Storage environment. The scope of this position currently
includes worldwide support and management of mission critical SAN
Storage/Fabric and personnel.
Basic Responsibilities and Objectives Include:
• Provide technical support of the Emerson Storage environment.
• Ensure all Storage configurations, installs, replacements, upgrades and
firmware are executed and completed on time and without incident.
• Provisions Storage as required.
• Utilize tools to analyze trends and troubleshoot issues.
• Monitor storage systems to ensure adequate capacity, performance and
availability.
• Assist in the planning, preparation and testing of Disaster Recovery
readiness.
• Work closely and provide support to all Corp IT teams and other
application support teams as needed.
• Provide enhanced performance tuning, troubleshooting and analysis.
• Responsible for Storage computing environment metrics collection and
reporting.
• Responsible for Storage security and audit findings and any/all
remediation efforts.
• Utilize ticketing system to address and resolve customer work requests.
• Responsible for planning and developing systems and procedures to improve
the operating quality and efficiency of the Storage environment.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide automation solutions/enhancements.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
basic responsibility satisfactorily and meet education and/or experience
requirements.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years of experience in Storage environment
required.
• Expert experience with EMC SAN, NAS, NDMP, SAN fabrics and SAN management
tools preferred.
• Unix and Scripting background is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment
required. Must be an excellent team member and self-starter.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise production environment best practices and
troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
