Here is the Job description
The Cognos Developer is required to understand business and technical
requirements and to develop appropriate Cognos solutions to solve
Information Management reporting requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
• Analyzing technical requirements, and developing Cognos Reports and
Queries as per specifications using Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis
Studio, and Framework Manager
• Develop dashboards as per specification
• Performing technical and functional testing of Cognos reports
• Providing production support of Cognos reports
• Adhering to established processes and standards for development,
documentation, and testing
• Perform software upgrades
Description of Duties
• Work directly with project manager, functional analysts and team members
to develop new data warehouse and business intelligence functionality from
business specifications by modeling, designing, developing, testing and
implementing the appropriate back-end and front-end structures. This
includes but is not limited to back-end database scripts / objects, middle
layer ETL (Extract Transform and Load) methods, and front-end reporting.
• Will create, modify, and maintain development objects related to the SQL
Server, Oracle and Cognos software platforms. New application development
and maintenance as required.
• Responsible for all aspects of maintenance including system modifications,
software upgrades, version control, quality assurance coordination,
performance tuning, etc.
• Always tests new functionality changes/enhancements in Development & QA
clients before submission to the QA Team. Coordinates user liaison and
business unit quality assurance methodologies and production implementation
practices per corporate standards.
• Collects required information from staff to create requested programming
enhancements.
• Able to provide technical support for all newly developed and existing
functionality
Qualification and Work Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience with Cognos Reporting using Report Studio, Query
Studio, Analysis Studio, and Framework Manager
• Hands on experience with Framework manager, Report Studio and developing
Cognos multi-dimensional cubes
• 3 + years demonstrated experience with SQL Server 200 and above as a data
source and middle layer (ETL) for the Cognos BI environment
• 3 + years demonstrated experience with formal data warehousing
architectures and meta data management is required.
