*Position : SQL Server DBA Location : Lexington NY Duration : 6+ Months with potential extension Phone / Skype or Face to Face if local* *Description* A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database(s). They will also be involved in the planning and development of the database(s) as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. * Responsibilities* - The day to day tasks involves monitoring the SQL Servers, backups, restores to lower regions and occasionally to production as well, in case the database is corrupted. - The candidate must also be familiar with various online SQL resources and be a keen learner of new technologies. He should be seeking constant improvements in processes, research new products and conduct training on subjects of his expertise. - This deeply process oriented person should be able to work alone as well have excellent ability to strike working relationship with Infrastructure, Applications and Developers teams. - *Troubleshoots database-related problems* and works with User Support to resolve user issues in a timely and courteous manner. Responds to calls received from the Help Desk ticket tracking system for ticket entry, tracking and follow up. Troubleshoots user problems that may require visiting the user directly. Contributes to and updates the solutions database and the projects management database. - The candidate has to be willing to work off hours to facilitate releases and patching cycles This includes most weekends and some week nights. - Proactively interacts with all levels of Firm personnel and outside service companies to ensure the prompt resolution of database related issues. Enthusiastically responds to customers’ needs in a proactive and timely manner and follows up to ensure a high level of user satisfaction with services provided. *Minimum Job Qualifications* - *At least four+ years of college Education, Microsoft SQL Certification desired but not essential * - At least 5+ years in all flavors* of SQL. (SQL 2000- SQL 2012). * - *This also occasionally involves interaction with users.
