*Position : Network Engineer * *Location : Baltimore, MD * *Duration : 6+ Months may be longer Interview: Phone /Skype * *Job Description* • Ensuring the firm’s production computing environments and related systems and services are available 24x7 • Understanding Infrastructure/Architectural design, build documentation, configuration design, integration, and installation of complex data and voice infrastructure • Troubleshooting and remediating 3rd and 4th level issues impacting the operation of the data and voice infrastructure • Planning, implementing, supporting and maintaining firewalls, WAN routers, data center and networking infrastructure to prevent data loss, and loss of computing capability • Participating in design, planning, implementation and maintenance of systems and processes for business continuity, data backup and disaster recovery • Designing, evaluating and recommending firm-wide systems engineering and architecture standards and strategies to increase reliability and manageability and providing instruction to IT personnel including escalation support for the Service Desk • Developing proactively monitored and administrate infrastructure systems health, performance, architecture, and providing senior level leadership with recommendations for effective optimization, utilization and/or application • Performing complex project-based and time-sensitive tasks under minimal supervision *Desired Skills and Qualifications:* • 5+ years of expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and monitoring applications • Experience in a fast paced support environment of campus networks as a member of a 24x7x365 network and/or security operations team • Advanced expertise of a wide-range of computer and networking software and hardware systems and technologies including but not limited to routers, switches, Netscaler load balancers and WAN technologies • Thorough understanding of WAN/LAN/DMZ/etc, VPN’s, TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, etc. in a distributed, client/server environment • Experience in design, configuration and troubleshooting of OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRF's and BGP • Experience with Load Balancers (physical and virtual) eg: F5 BigIP (GTM,LTM, APM), Palo Alto Network firewalls, FireEye, CSS and DNS technologies Experience with Cisco Nexus, 7000’s, 5000’s, 2000’s, VDC’s/VRF’s, Catalyst and access layer switches • Experience with Cisco ASA, Sonic firewall clusters and security context technology • Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances • Experience with Storage arrays NAS and SAN storage technologies including ISCSI, FCOE • Experience with virtualization: VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, View (VDI), Citrix Farms • Knowledge on configuration, troubleshooting, and support of HP, Dell and Cisco UCS server equipment a must • Production and strong technical understanding of and experience with the latest Microsoft Windows Server technologies including, Active Directory, Clustering, Exchange, SQL Server, and related services (e.g. DFS, DHCP, and DNS) • Hands on technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, WebVPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.) • Ability to develop and document repeatable standardized procedures for the administration and maintenance of firm computing resources • In-depth knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures and techniques • Ability to generate Network Diagrams in short notice using tools like Visio (or similar) and explain solutions to client (Analysis, Creation and Presentation) as-is and To-be state and gap analysis presentations • Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, stateful inspection firewalls, encryption, authentication and authorization technology • Configuring network services using open source technologies on Linux servers as well as Microsoft Stack/servers Expert level skills with Desktop systems (Windows and Mac Operating Systems) • Plus Server systems (Windows, Linux (Redhat/Centos) Systems Expert level skills in designing and operating Virtualization/Cloud Systems (VMware, VCenter/ vCloud) • Ability to work well under pressure in high paced, client facing environments, including the: · Ability to deal responsibly with sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and secure manner · Demonstrated ability to manage timelines, dependencies, deliverables, milestones and resource allocation and management in projects · Experience advising and communicating with non- technical staff and guiding technical decisions · Willingness to engage in mentoring more junior staff members · Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources · Strong combination of strategic
