500Mbps Wireless 802.11g's replacement: 802.11n With the IEEE exploring various proposals for the 802.11n wireless standard, this press release indicates that Agere's proposed solution aims for speeds up to 500Mbps, while being backward compatible with existing technologies. By using multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas, wide bandwidth channels, 5Ghz transmissions, and multiple channel modes, Agere's proposal is getting the most attention of the 61 submitted to the IEEE, according to Tom's Hardware. The 500Mbps high-water mark is enough to run most bandwidth intensive applications, including HDTV signals. source : http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/48545
