May 10, 2006 (China Knowledge) Yahoo! China will upgrade all free web-based email accounts storage capacity to 3.5 gigabytes and increase email attachment quota to 20 megabytes, the China Business News reported Tuesday. These email storage and attachment transfer quotas are believed to be the largest in China's free web-based email service history. Currently, these services in China offer a maximum storage of two gigabytes. Yahoo! commented that storage capacity is a defining factor in the web-based email business, said the paper. The report added that according to the Ministry of Information Industry, there are currently 100 million Internet users in China who on average own 1.5 free web-based email accounts and this number is expected to escalate.
