"Friends from the market said the acquisition or investment to Gigabyte is probably a strategy of ASUS to prevent Foxconn to expand its share. Sources indicate ASUS is less possible to acquire Gigabyte totally, but investment. The markets of Gigabyte are too overlapped to ASUS, so that ASUS cannot get much benefit from the acquisition. Whereas, investing to Gigabyte can make ASUS be a large shareholder, possessing the power to against acquisition from Foxconn. Investment to Gigabyte is more economic to ASUS and more acceptable to those shareholders of Gigabyte. Whether ASUS acquire or invest Gigabyte, it's expected there are not too much effect to others manufacturers like MSI and ECS. Just want to prevent the expansion of Foxconn, ASUS is most probably not to providing any support to Gigabyte, making sure its products are not affected. The rumor is surprising, yet without any benefit to each other, the market is not too worrying."
